Unscripted: Binary Star + Banff Playwrights Retreat

On February 11, Playwrights Theatre Centre hosted Unscripted: Binary Star, a staged reading of roughly half of the play José has been developing with PTC as part of its Associates program. The presentation involved contributions from actors Alisha Tasha Davidson, Daniel Deorkson, and Ana-María Alvarado, projection designer Candelario Andrade, choreographer Tara Cheyanne Friedenberg, dramaturg Joanna Garfinkel, and many others. The experiments were happening right up until curtain. It was a fun, beautiful, strange, and enormously informative evening. Heartfelt thanks to all who worked hard to make it happen, all who attended, and most especially those who offered feedback through one of our two platforms.

After Unscripted, José traveled to the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, where he incorporated ideas gleaned from Unscripted into a new draft of Binary Star as part of the Banff Playwrights Retreat. Double lucky José!
