At Deer Lake

I’m currently transitioning between two sequential artist residencies at Deer Lake, Burnaby. The first was part of my ongoing work as a Playwrights Theatre Centre Associate, was focused on developing my new play Binary Star, and included a regional architectural tour with dramaturg extraordinaire Joanna Garfinkel. The second, now underway, will find me returning to Without Destination, the literary project initiated earlier this year at Historic Joy Kogawa House. Feeling extremely fortunate both to be able to inhabit the beautiful, creaky, pleasingly eerie heritage site of Eagles Estate, which faces Deer Lake and is located on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples, and to have these residencies happen back to back. Working on something else too, which is all set to manifest imminently—update to come!
